A neurologist is the specialist of diseases that affect your brain, spinal cord and nerves.
The neurologist treats diseases affecting your central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) as well as your peripheral nervous system (the roots and nerves including muscles).
The neurologist deal with conditions specific to the nervous system such as degenerative diseases (e.g., Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, motor neuron diseases), hereditary diseases (e.g., Friedreich's ataxia, muscular dystrophy), epileptic diseases (primary or secondary), multiple sclerosis, primary headaches such as migraine, neuralgias such as trigeminal neuralgia, etc.
