Endocrinologist
Association of Endocrinologists of Quebec
The endocrinologist is the specialist of your glands, the hormones they produce and your metabolism.
The most important glands are the thyroid, pancreas, gonads (testes and ovaries), adrenals, parathyroid glands and pituitary gland, the latter being the master gland of our system. Its role is to meticulously regulate all the substances produced by the other glands.
Hormones are substances that sometimes have a messenger role to provoke a reaction from one or more organs (example: adrenaline) or a direct role on cells or tissues (example: insulin).
The most common metabolic abnormalities are diabetes, obesity and dyslipidemias.
